Trish Papa had a love of music from
the day she was born. There was always music in her
house – whether it was her mother “blasting” the
stereo while doing housework, her father teaching her
EVERY verse of “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad”, or
listening to her sister’s Beatles records, music was
everywhere. She and her father would faithfully watch
“Sing Along With Mitch” (Mitch Miller) every week and
sing along with the “bouncing ball”.
Trish studied dance her entire life
and sang in her high school chorus. In her early teens
she attended dance conventions each summer when they
came through Boston. After high school she entered
local dance competitions, and later competed in New
York City and Atlantic City.
At 20 years old Trish began her
professional career as a member of “The Great
Pretenders,” a Boston-based oldies lip-sync act. The
Great Pretenders performed their fully choreographed
and costumed shows throughout the Boston and Cape Cod
areas, at New England Colleges, and Miami Beach,
Florida, breaking attendance records along the way. To

After The Great Pretenders Trish
joined another lip-sync oldies show called “Solid
Gold”. Solid Gold was made up of former members of The
Fabulous Pharaohs and Amazing Sensations. With Solid
Gold she not only performed on stage, but was active
“behind the scenes” as well. Trish choreographed many
of the show’s routines, designed costumes for herself
and the group, and created musical segments.
After Solid Gold Trish sang with
Boston area Top 40 bands, and was hired to sing at the
Club Maximus complex, located west of Boston, where
she regularly sang to huge crowds.
In the 1990’s
Trish reconnected with her former vocal coach and
friend, Ric Poulin. Ric, a singer, musician,
songwriter and producer (to name just a few of his
music-related accomplishments!) had become the
Director of Bristol Recording and Voice Studios.
Working with Ric and Kelly Riley (Bristol Studios’
top vocal coach and a successful artist/songwriter
in her own right), Trish recorded two songs which
appeared on Bristol Studios’ compilation CDs. The
first song, “Rendezvous”, was followed by, “More
Than Distance”. More Than Distance was written by
Trish Papa (lyrics) and Ric Poulin (music). Also
lending their talents to More Than Distance were
Kelly Riley (keyboards), Joe Mack (guitar) and Chris
Billias (producer).
