About a year after leaving The Great Pretenders, I was asked to join Solid Gold – another lip sync act.  With Solid Gold I did choreography, costume design, and had quite a bit of input to the musical content.  I also got a lot more time performing on stage.  All this made for an offer I “couldn’t refuse”!  (photographer of all shots except for the candids and the picture from “Lost in the 50’s weekend”:  Milton Moffett, Burlington, MA, Feb., 1984)

On a sad note, we lost Billy Dillon in October of 2010.  This section is dedicated to Billy.

This is the "unofficial" group promo shot - why do I call it the "unofficial" group promo shot? Because several of the group members have it displayed in our homes - even now. It was taken in the dressing room of Johnny D's (Somerville, MA). L to R: Mark Enos, Trish Papa, Billy Dillon, Lisa Desfonse, Mike Thomas

From the photo shoot - Trish in her costume from the 3rd set "rock" segment

After the photo shoot, we did a final rehearsal of what was at that time our yet-to-be performed 40's segment. We didn't change costumes from the shoot. This picture is from that rehearsal. So I'm wearing my 3rd set costume with a pose from the 40's segment.

A great candid shot of Ronnie Geraneo from the 1st set 40's segment.

6' tall, doesn't it? Sadly, I only stand at 5'1".

This is one of my all-time favorite pictures from when I was with Solid Gold - come to think of it, it is one of my favorite pictures overall. In fact I have a few prints of it displayed in my home. It's a candid shot from the 1st set (Johnny D's). L to R: Mark Enos, Trish Papa, Billy Dillon. (RIP Billy)
This picture is from one of the last times we performed together. It was taken in August 1988 at the “Lost in the 50’s Weekend” at the Steppin Stone Ranch in Escoheag, RI. In addition to several concerts over a 3-day weekend, it featured a car show. L to R: Trish Papa, Mark Enos, Billy Dillon, and Mike Thomas. The picture quality is poor because it was actually taken as one of those “pictures on a key-ring”. I blew it up for this web page.
