After Club Maximus closed I started working with the folks at Bristol Recording and Voice Studios in Boston. I was asked to record songs for two of Bristol’s compilation CD’s, this meant…… another photo shoot! (photographer: Michael Neville, Metro Studio, Boston, MA, June 1997)
How the photo shoot came about is a great story.
The photo studio was on the 6th (and top) floor of an old brick commercial building in Boston. It was June and the weather had been a little cool that month, that is, until the day of my shoot. That day the weather was HOT. To do a photo shoot you need to bring a few different outfits – complete outfits - including shoes. So you end up lugging garment and tote bags. The shoot was on a Saturday. Did you know the elevators are turned off in commercial buildings on the weekend? Neither did I. I had to lug all my stuff up to the 6th floor – oh, and there was no air conditioning in the building either – or, like the elevators, it’s not turned on over the weekend.
Some of the pictures were taken on the roof – 7 stories high in Boston. I’m afraid of heights! To access the roof there was an opening in the ceiling at the top of the stairway. You had to climb a small ladder and go through the opening. If you looked down, you saw right down the center of the stairway to the first floor. Did I mention I’m afraid of heights? I really don’t remember exactly how I made it up to the roof (or back down – that’s totally gone from my memory), but I DO remember someone behind me, pushing my back end up the ladder and through the opening! Once on the roof, I tried to stay as far from the edge as possible, AND NOT LOOK!!!!! But, I was delighted with the results of the shoot, it was a fun day, and Mike (the photographer) did a great job!
